First Impressions of Glossier Makeup

Glossier, a beauty brand that has attracted many millennial customers with their pink and white packaging, skincare that leaves the face feeling dewy and hydrated and minimalistic makeup, has long been on my wishlist to purchase products from. The company came from Glossier's founder Emily Weiss's beauty blog Into the Gloss and has grown a cult following. Their products are very easy to use and look incredibly natural on your face. Their effects are sometimes subtle and sheer but are supposed to enhance your features rather than being full coverage or cakey. Additionally, the packaging is simple and uncomplicated. I had seen enough pictures of the iconic pink bubble wrap bags all over my Instagram feed and finally made my first purchase.
Last week, I finally placed my order for 13 items. Alright, this may seem extreme but I added several different sets to my bag and somehow it ended up being a total of 13 items. I had high expectations when adding items to my bag because as Glossier products, they all fall under the category of natural-looking makeup products which I love. The products I bought were the Perfecting Skin Tint, Stretch Concealer, a Lash Slick, a Boy Brow in the shade brown, Cloud Paint in the shades Dawn, Puff and Beam, a Haloscope in the shade Quartz, Lidstars in the shades Moon and Cub and Balm Dotcoms in the flavors Cherry, Birthday and Mango. As written in the title, I will be giving my first impressions and reviewing every Glossier Makeup product except Glossier Play products, Generation G Sheer Matte Lipstick, and the Lip Gloss which I hope to order and try out in the future. Although they aren't necessarily makeup products I decided to get three Balm Dotcom's and will also hopefully try more of their skincare products in the future.
After a week of waiting patiently, a white box finally arrived on my doorstep. I quickly picked up the box and rushed inside, cut the red and white Glossier tape, and opened the box. Inside were some cute mango stickers and of course, the classic pink bubble wrap bag. Unfortunately, the zipper on my bag didn't work and I had to pull the sides of the bag apart to actually open it. But that was no big deal, at least I had received all 13 of my products in a reasonable time. When I finally got the bag to open and unboxed all of my products, I began to put on my makeup. I didn't use every single product I ordered but I did use one of each product to determine what I liked and disliked.

I started by picking up my Perfecting Skin Tint in the shade G9. The instructions say that you should shake the bottle and then apply over moisturized skin with your fingers. I didn't purchase Glossier's Priming Moisturizer so I decided to use my amazing mini Drunk Elephant Protini™ Polypeptide Moisturizer instead. After applying, I shook the skin tint and put it on my face. I noticed that the skin tint was sheer. Very, very sheer. There was an incredibly subtle difference in how my skin looked after putting it on but it did leave my skin looking even and smooth. The skin tint is advertised to be a thin formula that has light coverage which was true.
Next, I picked up my Stretch Concealer which was also in the shade G9. I put it under my eyes and covered a few spots and I think it did a good job. I really loved its creamy consistency and it blended in so well. At first, it was also sheer like the skin tint but it was buildable.
After that, I put on my Cloud Paint in the shade Beam. I was really looking forward to the unique gel-cream formula and ended putting on a little too much. A little goes a very long way with the Cloud Paints but it blended out super easily. The Cloud Paint shades are actually inspired by the sunset's in NYC which I thought was really cool. I really liked the way the Cloud Paint looked on my cheeks and also thought the paint tube-like packaging was cute.
I then grabbed my Haloscope "dew effect highlighter" in the shade Quartz and applied it along my cheekbones, on my nose, and under my brow bone. The consistency was also creamy like the concealer but I noticed that it picked up some of the Cloud Paint. Because of this, I rubbed my finger on the product and patted it onto my skin rather than using the stick and it still ended up looking good. After blending it out, my face looked even dewier than before.

Once I had applied the face products, I moved onto my eyes. I decided to use my Lidstar in the shade Moon, an opalescent glittery shade. It wasn't very buildable and seemed to dry quickly but I really liked the way it looked on my creases.
Afterward, I used the Lash Slick and in all honesty, it was probably my favorite product.
I personally like mascaras that lengthen my lashes and I don't always look for high volume mascaras. The Lash Slick didn't clump at all and wasn't volumizing. It lengthened my lashes and looked very natural. I think I've finally found the perfect mascara.
Once my lashes were coated in the enhancing mascara, I filled in my eyebrows with Glossier's bestseller, the Boy Brow. I got mine in the shade Brown and understood why this product has gotten so much hype. The brow pomade filled in my brows and didn't leave them feeling stiff. The consistency left my brows feeling quite soft as it is made of beeswax and carnauba wax.

Finally, I completed my full face using Glossier Makeup with a skincare product, a Balm Dotcom. I decided to try Cherry. The product would not come out of the tube when I tried squeezing it so I put the cap back on and rubbed the tube for about 10 seconds. I tried to squeeze the tub again and this time it came out. It had a very thick consistency and also had a red tint. When I applied it onto my lips I immediately noticed how hydrating it felt and that I could still see the red tint. The Balm Dotcom was also scented and the smell of cherries wasn't too weak or too strong but just right.
Looking back at all of the products I used, I personally didn't love the Perfecting Skin Tint. I thought it was just so sheer and would rather use a tinted moisturizer. I didn't necessarily hate it but I believe with that level of coverage you'd be better off using a product that hydrates your skin at least. I actually really liked the consistency of the Stretch Concealer and how creamy it was. The Cloud Paint and Haloscope were both really amazing and blended out very well. I also liked the Lidstar because I personally prefer a more natural look and the look of the eyeshadow was subtle. I don't know if I need to say this again but I absolutely loved the Lash Slick and definitely see it as my go-to product. I was impressed with how well the bestselling Boy Brow groomed and filled in my eyebrows. Last but not least, I really enjoyed using the Cherry Balm Dotcom and liked the pop of color it added to my lips.
Overall, I loved the natural makeup look I had created using Glossier products and am so glad I hopped onto the Glossier train.
